A stable high-pressure area continues to lie over the British Isles, blocking all low-pressure systems from the west. This so-called omega high means that the general weather situation will remain unchanged for the time being. The blocking weather pattern will remain in place. Typical for this weather pattern in autumn is that high fog sometimes lingers over the valleys, which breaks up during the day and gives way to sunshine. Sometimes the high fog will dissipate earlier, sometimes it will linger longer. Away from the foggy areas and up in the mountains, the sun usually shines uninterrupted from a blue or slightly cloudy sky. The high-pressure system will shift to Eastern Europe and the British high will largely dissipate at the weekend. Here, the calm autumn weather will mostly continue. A change in the weather is not expected until next week.
